What is Kosher?
Our partners at Kosher Supervisors of Wisconsin state that Kosher was "originally used to describe that which is "fit" and "proper." Kosher food is food that is prepared in accordance with Jewish dietary laws under the supervision of a competent Rabbi.
A Rabbi will only certify food is Kosher if they determine that it was prepared using ingredients, equipment, and processes that would not render the food non-Kosher.
Kosher Supervisors of Wisconsin note that people prefer to eat Kosher for a variety of reasons. Jews, Christians, Muslims, vegetarians, people with lactose intolerance, and people with certain food allergies all may choose to eat Kosher food for their own particular reasons.
