Green River Soda Goes Viral

Green River Soda Goes Viral

Beloved 103-year-old lime-flavored soda makes this grandpa's day

It started with an 89-year-old grandpa reminiscing about a lime-flavored soda he enjoyed as a kid.

He couldn't remember the soda's name, so his granddaughter started investigating through Google. It led her to find and order Green River soda on the Sprecher website.

The granddaughter then documented his surprised reaction on TikTok –– and his delight went viral. To date, it has nearly 3 million views on TikTok alone.

Sprecher has been producing and distributing Green River, a beloved 103-year-old brand, since taking over stewarding the soda in October 2021.

In a follow-up video, the granddaughter (aka @rachelmtho on Tiktok) made Green River floats for her grandfather and her friends.

Sprecher also reached out to the family and sent a Green River t-shirt, a Sprecher craft soda variety pack and a letter from Sprecher CEO Sharad Chadha.

"We know how much Green River means to people and how it has long been an iconic drink associated with great childhood memories," Chadha wrote. "At Sprecher, we watched your granddaughter’s video of you trying Green River again and how it reminded you of your childhood, and it made our day! Your memories and how you shared it with friends and family was a reminder about why we do what we do."

Green River thank you
